gearing up for Movember, need feedback
Ok so I know that I'm a very absent minded blog keeper but as you know (or as I write here every few months) I am looking to change that. One of the things that I truly hate about having Multiple Sclerosis is that I am VERY easily distracted because of my lack of focus, that little sticking point just blends itself into other areas of my MS laziness (a blend of lack of motivation/zero energy/mood- anger) oh the joys of our illness. Sorry I had to have a little whine- my writing style is anything but perfect or normal, as you know or are about to find out- I am trying to impart my knowledge and yell a lot in the process. I am taking part in Movember which is a light hearted yet hirsute challenge for men to grow a mustache while fundraising for men's health issues which include prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health issues. I want to participate in order to shine a light on the issue of men and MS - Multiple Sclerosis is two to three times more common in females than males. So I am going to forth with a "lip broom" and talk about some health in the process, I still don't know how often I'll update (daily versus 2-3 day intervals)

Life Update ... me just complaining 6/24
I'm doing my darnedest to be motivated, this weekend seems to be a wash literally my area in Florida is getting the tail end of a Tropical Storm that was forecast to go toward Texas but seems to be camping out close-by. I'm still recovering from what I initially thought was a fall but when I thought about it a bit harder turned out to be me tripping over my untied shoes (at the gym). Aside from my ego I received a bruise on my left knee, I have to remember to get myself some Velcro strap shoes. Aside from that I was in talks to be part of a panel on Wegohealth.com, at least I thought I was, I haven't heard back from the coordinator, I think it would be interesting to share info, I've joined their web-community but I really haven't made friends- meh, all in a days work for a grumpy MSer

I don't celebrate
Just as the title suggests I won't be celebrating my latest anniversary, it has been two years since I was officially diagnosed as having Multiple Sclerosis. I can remember it as it were yesterday, I was in the hospital because I was I kept falling at home and I was completely zapped of strength to stand back up not to mention if I were to manage standing up, it was doubtful I could keep my balance. My wife and I were still a little clueless as to what could be wrong, but the day after being admitted I was alone in bed when the attending neurologist, and might I add the Dr with the WORST bedside manner in the world, she waited till I was alone and half asleep and just came out and said Yeah, It's MS. The next day in front of my wife she started going on about the possibility that it could be HIV. Thankfully it wasn't and thankfully I now have a neurologist that minored in Tact and bedside manner. In the past two years I have tried my darnedest to get educated about MS and try to share info (as is seen here)So in a way I guess I've just lied, I should celebrate the fact that I'm alive and the fact that the MS hasn't really progressed, I had optic neuritis that went from a minor brown obstruction in vision to just one eye being a tad crossed, or rather a bit off center (as you see in most MSers).

Wrap up and some food for thought
Thanksgiving is almost upon us and I've become introspective. I continue to be thankful for good progress and for limited pain these past few months, I had some shoulder pain a few weeks ago that was caused by me slumping my shoulder. I use that instance as a reminder to remember to walk tall (cane included), and for the most part I feel great. I'm thankful for my body continuing to remain balanced (frontwards/backwards at least) After the run-in with shoulder pain I had to struggle to remain motivated, at the end of last week I accidentally forgot to take my morning pill and vitamins, I really didn't feel anything wrong through that day but the next day I felt as if my life was in slow motion. I'm thankful that the situation there was easy to fix
I'm also thankful that I can continue to be there for friends on Facebook, aside from games, Facebook is a great tool to spread awareness and to motivate. I may not be THE go to guy on FB but just being there is ok with me.
It didn't occur to me until now, (a few hours after I posted this) I'm really just thankful that I'm at my current level of disability as opposed to being further incapacitated, it may sound odd or even cruel to my fellow MSers but I don't intend it that way. Like everyone I'm just trying to power through (both to show that achieving a sense of wellness is possible, to fellow MSers) and for myself being ambulatory is a good thing, self esteem -wise and safety-wise.
